Comparing Relational Database And Data Storage Essay
Introduction This paper will discuss the main difference between the relational database optimized for on line transactions and a data warehouse optimized for processing and summarizing large amounts of data. Next this author will outline the difference database requirements for operational data for decision support data. Next this paper will describe three example in which databases could be used to support decision making in a large organizational environment. Lastly this author will describe three other examples in which data warehoused and data mining could be used to support data processing and trend analysis in a large organizational environment. Difference between Relational Database and Data Warehouse Optimized What are the main differences between the structure of a relational database optimized for online transactions versus a data warehouse optimized for processing and summarizing large amounts of data? Relational database online transaction consist a unit of work performed within a database management system and treated in a coherent and reliable way independent of other transactions. Many types of organization use this type of transaction, consumer use this type of transaction when using their ATM. The short answer is, these types of transaction are great at collecting data. OLTP are fast transactions recording process like sales transaction or ATM machines. Also, used in Health Care recording patient information. Down And Out Paris And London Essay Example For Students
Down And Out Paris And London Essay Down and Out Paris and LondonThe story of Down And Out In Paris And London deals with the authorsexperience with tramps and the poverty stricken in Paris and London in the1920s. He lives with them on equal terms and suffers the same hardships andtribulations. Orwell shows great compassion for the plight of the poor and feels thatsociety is very unfair in their criticism and judgment of the tramps and beggarsthat roam the streets. He feels that these people are victims of theircircumstances. To be belligerent towards tramps is no fairer than to be that waytowards invalids and the handicapped, in that they are that way not because theywant to be, but because of their circumstances. In this essay we will explorethe characteristics and personality of a person who lives below the poverty line. Through the author we get a very keen insight into this area of humanexperience. Orwell feels that beggars and tramps have unfair labels and stereotypesattached to them. For example, most people think of tramps as being dangerous. About that Orwell says:Quite apart from experience, one can say a priori that very few tramps aredangerous, because if they were dangerous they would be treated accordingly. Acasual ward will often admit a hundred tramps in one night, and these arehandled by a staff of at most three porters. A hundred ruffians could not becontrolled by three unarmed men. Indeed, when one sees how ramps let themselvesbe bullied by the work house officials, it is obvious that they are the mostdocile, broken-spirited creatures imaginable. (p. 204)About the term drunkard Orwell disagrees also saying:Or take the idea that all tramps are drunkards an idea ridiculous on theface of it. No doubt many tramps would drink if they got the chance, but in thenature of things they cannot get the chance. At this moment a pale watery stuffcalled beer is seven pence a pint in England. To be drunk on it would cost atleast half a crown, and a man who can command half a crown at all often is not atramp. (p. 204)I am not sure that I necessarily agree with this I do not believe thatall tramps are dangerous. I do believe that when one reaches such a desperatelevel of poverty that he would be tempted to do unscrupulous acts to alleviatehis situation. As for all tramps being drunkards, I would not say all, but I do thinkthere is a segment of these people (as there are in any social level) of thosewho live to drink. There are those who will use whatever handout they get tosatisfy this need to drink. Orwell believes that poverty frees people from ordinary standards ofbehavior, that they take on rather eccentric characteristics and give up tryingto be normal. Having lived the life of poverty he discusses the redeemingfeatures of povertythe fact that it annihilates the future. In other words, without money, one does not need to think about the future and just take one dayat a time. Orwell says: Within certain limits, it is actually true that theless money you have, the less you worry. When you have a hundred francs in theworld you are libel to the most craven panics. When you have only three francsin the world you are quite indifferent; for three francs will feed you tilltomorrow, and you cannot think further that that. (p. 16)He says that another feeling associated with poverty is a feeling ofconsolation. Somewhat of a relief that you have finally reached the stage ofbeing down and out and are surviving. .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .postImageUrl , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:hover , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:visited , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:active { border:0!important; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:active , .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u33dac9284a5ca0e94a7701b10eae6a4b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Ten Year War Cuba EssayAnother idea is that people tend to think that poor people arefundamentally different from the rich, as if they are another race. Not true, says Orwell In reality there is no such difference, that the rich and poor aredifferent only by their incomes. He expresses this by saying: The averagemillionaire is only the average dishwasher dressed in a new suit. (p. 121)Orwell discusses the powerful effect that ones clothes has on onespersonality and how they affect how one is perceived. Once one puts on theclothes of a tramp, Orwell discovered, one is put in an entirely different world. To begin with, one feels degraded and shameful and one is treated the same way. People react to you differently and women especially have a strong reaction toa mans clothes. When a badly dressed man passes them they shudder away from him with a quitefrank movement of disgust, as though he were a dead cat. (p. 130)Orwellcompares the feeling of the first day in tramps clothes to being in a jail cellsaying You might feel the same shame, irrational but very real, your firstnight in prison. (p. 130)I certainly felt that after reading George Orwells experiences in DownAnd Out In Paris And London that I have a better understanding of people wholive at this level of society. I have probably been too quick to brush them offand attach a certain stereotype to them. Now I understand better theircircumstances and their way of thinking. The Author explains the personality ofa beggar or tramp and I can definitely sympathize more. As George Orwell saidThat is a beginning (p. 216)

A definition of one-to-one marketing and how it has changed consumer marketing. The paper defines one-to-one marketing as operating on the premise that consumers want more, not only do they want more, they want it now. It shows how one to one marketing offers consumers unlimited choice, personalization and customization, oftentimes from the privacy of the customers home. One-to-one marketing has revolutionized the way firms do business, as a world of opportunity has been unveiled. This paper will discuss how such technologies have changed consumer marketing. It shows how the Internet, customer relationship management and related technologies have allowed both the consumer and the marketing executive to satisfy their objectives. The Internet has the capability of reaching over a billion people from all around the world. The Internet is never closed, as it allows the busy working mother to purchase a new desktop for her business, it allows the college co-ed to send his mother balloons for her birthday, it allows a concerned grandparent to find information on dysgraphia because her grandson was recently diagnosed with the disorder. A limitation of the Internet lies in the same properties that render it so attractive to businesses. A business cannot just put up a website and expect to see the customers and the cash come pouring in. A website is not a storefront in that people cannot just drive by and see it, no one just drops on in, if not referred by another site, web banner or search engine.

Questions: 1. Why is it sometimes argued that under rate of return regulation, capital will tend to beoverutilized, and labour - underutilized?2. Please define the meaning of following concepts in the context of regulating electricitymonopoly networks?a) Asymmetry of Informationb) Regulatory Capturec) Regulatory Burden 3.Develop a philosophical perspective on the appropriateness of Rate-of-Return (Costplus)and Incentive-based (CPI-X type) regulation for regulating electricitytransmission networks. Answers: 1. Under the rate of return regulation, recommendations to have capital over utilized is common due to the following various reasons.Increased capital leads to increase of money supply. The increase of capital will be connected with the increase of investments, which are likely to yield returns. Therefore, through the over utilization of capital, more money supply is achieved in an economy and the economic growth is achieved. It has direct connection with the economy. Over utilization of capital helps to build the economy. The economy is enhanced on both social, economic and financial sector. The overutilization of capital ensures that the money is on circulation and therefore able to loft the economy. Recommendations for the underutilization are also recommendation because of various reasons. The labor is an expense, which is likely to lead to underdevelopment. Underutilization can be carried out in an economy in order to control the expense and ensure that the economy is managed (Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014). The control of the strength of currency. The labor dictates the amount of currency in supply. Underutilizing labor will lead to little currency is in supply to the economy. This can be used as a measure to ensure that appreciation of the currency to the required level is achieved. 2. Asymmetry of information the asymmetry of information applies to the monopoly businesses such as electricity distributors where they get different contracts to estimate the cost of their products for proper supply to the consumers without overburdening the consumer and generating losses. Regulatory capture in the electricity monopoly businesses, there is a body with the mandate to ensure that the consumers are not overburdened (Adams et al. 2007). Failure for the body to represent the interest of the consumers and diverting its mandate to political and individual interests is what is known as regulatory capture. Regulatory burden these are policies are regulations which are thought to be reducing the time and money for the industry to grow. The regulatory burdens may hinder the increase of the investment in an industry due to the increase of the costs of paying for the regulatory policies. 3. The rate of return in the regulation of electricity industry helps to understand the risks and reward. It helps to define the amount of investment to be set up and the benefits to different parties. In addition, the rate of return helps to control the overall price for the benefit of the consumer and the provider. It analyzes the measures to be taken to ensure that the costs are manageable in the case of the provider and can be paid by the consumer on the other end. Incentives helps to reduce the cost of running the electricity transmission and placing rules on the provider on regions to place their transmission lines (Philips 1993). The provided incentives to the electricity transmission will have conditions on the areas, which need to be operated. The incentive based also helps to control the overall costs of installing the transmission lines for both the consumer and producer. Therefore, the incentive based ensures that the industry is regulated on the amount they have to charge the consumer. References Adams, G., Hayes, S., Weierter, S., and Boyd, J. (October 2007). Contemporary Canadian Business Rationalized Procedure
Question: Describe about the Contemporary Canadian Business for Rationalized Procedure. Answer: The benefits to Canada of entering into this free trade agreement with Europe CETA creates a rationalized procedure for the acknowledgement of overseas qualifications in some particular sectors, and a comprehensive context by which professional organizations and regulators might discuss common recognition settlements for other professions(Marise Cremona, 2016). An expert stated that if the deal referred to as CETA is ultimately sealed, a very big market for Canadian companies will emerge. Through CETA, Canada will get a chance contact opportunities in municipalities and EU regions. Generally it is estimated that this will be advantageous to both European and Canadian companies. Places of interest in the deal involve huge quotas for Agro-products and opportunities for Canadian companies to tender for projects in Europe through the EU procurement market. In regard to CETA overview that government of Canada has provided, the agreement could do away with 98 per cent of the tariffs on items traded by across EU and Canada. This would present a clear advantage to the exporters from Canada over other nations also exporting their goods to Europe. E.g. the 8 per cent Canadian maple syrup tariff would be eliminated by CETA. This way, in the eyes of EU buyers it will appear to be more competitive than others. In the current, about 25 per cent only of EU tariffs lines will be duty free on goods from Canada exported to EU. In the first CETA takes effect, goods originating from Canada will be duty free by 98 % 0f EU tariff lines. A further one per cent will be scrapped within a seven years period. Upon full implementation of CETA, there will be 99 per cent duty free to EU tariffs lines. Therefore there will be significant and tangible chances for Canadians to trade in the EU market. This will make Canada exporters to build brand markets for their products or widen the already existing in EU. Potential impact on consumers, employment, competitiveness, and culture in the Canadian context In general, a number of witnesses agreed that the EU-Canada CETA would benefit the economy of Canada. The agreement is expected to be positive in several ranks, especially in the medium and long term. The EU-Canada CETA will improve gross domestic product (GDP) of Canada, Lower Canada taxpayers cost, promote creation of jobs, stimulate to-way flow of investment among Canada and EU. The presence of Canadian businesses will also be increased in the Europe market. A preferred market of over five hundred million consumers will be accessed by Canadian businesses where they would get chances to investment opportunities, technology and partnership, manufacturing, developed licensing in technology and distribution(Steffen Hindelang, 2016). The agreements seems to be far-reaching and ambitious to boost growth of economy, job creation and increase across the board opportunities for all sized companies, whether large, medium or small in every sector(Andrea K. Bjorklund, 2016). It will also busi nesses and consumers enhanced access European services and products due to improved competitiveness. Under CETA there will be a positive impact to the consumers in Canada. Although industries form Canada might face higher completion from European industries, they must go on thriving in case the agreement is adopted in order to ensure economic transition is efficiently taking place. It will give all Canadians a better choice to consumer products(Savvas Katsikides, 2015). This will result to quality services and subsidized prices. Domestics industries that previously have had advantage of tariff barriers will now be forced to compete with imports of lower cost. This way industries continuity to thrive will be enabled due to a proper-balanced agreement accompanied by an excellent economic transition plan. CETA implementation will make sure that Canada is in a better marketplace internationally(Congress, 2012). Combination of CETA and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) will make Canada have a priority access eight hundred million up nine hundred million richest consumers in the world. In terms of employment trade deals like CETA agreement in the long term might result creation of more jobs to Canadians. Anyway, between job creation and economic liberalization agreements automatic correlation does not exist. In the short term there might be loss of jobs if there is increased competitiveness and productivity due to trade deals. Increase in economy productivity requires less labor which means lower jobs in the short term(Hbner, 2011). If more trade for both exports and imports, more jobs in relation to import might be created as distribution and other services are needed. There are twin references to culture provided in the preamble of CETA. The agreement provides conservation to control inside their territories resolving to conserve their elasticity to meet policy goals. Examples are public morals and the promotion, public health, protection of cultural diversity, environment and public morals. All states have the right to implement, develop and maintain their cult ural policies. They are also entitled to culturally support their industries with the aim of making cultural expressions diversity stronger. The major objective is to conserve cultural identity with the inclusion of financial support and regulatory measures. Cultural exemptions revolve around five of the trio dozen agreement chapters. They are namely cross-border trade in services, subsidies, government procurement, investments and domestic regulation(Savvas Katsikides, 2015). There is partial and asymmetric exception to culture included in CETA. In Canadian context all cultural industries as defined in trade agreements are covered. Under consideration of UNESCO inclusion, preamble has provision as to how the EU and Canada can agree to culture exemptions. The exemptions include the following: Cultural independency provided assurance that both parties are aware of intentions to exempt. Elasticity on not demanding cultural exemption in irrelevant chapters. Canada and the EU can request in future dealings with outside partners and reject cultural exemptions. There is limitation of cultural exemptions to some chapters and provisions that are relevant except for the subsidies because they are completely exempted(Casteleiro, 2016). Therefore anything that is not in each party specific reservations lists or article is not under protection as while. For Canadian cultural industries and EU audiovisual services, exemptions are confined to particular chapters. Why Canadian govern should not play the role of guardian of businesses Sometimes views of public opinion in policy making can play an important role in policy making. This is because as the opinions themselves policies can be diverse. Abraham Lincoln stated that public opinion in this country is everything(Congress, 2012). Foreign policies give interesting beginning points. It has historical samples indicating situations where public opinion has and hasnt effect on government policies. Giving business opportunity to be independent regulators makes them accountable facilitating stable, efficient and fair financial system operation. To the point, independence should optimumly be respected in accompaniment of healthy and clear mechanisms of accountability that give suitable surveillance and balances. However, practically, the level of independence and accountability will rely on statutory and institutional structures(IBP, 2015). It will also rely on the Canadian business culture. Independency of investors and the market make them to prepare and be fully equipped by undue industry influence and political pressure. Nevertheless, accountable regulation of the markets and investment in Canada requires respect in discharge of powers and open to questioning, evidence, new ideas and feedback. Sometimes government can be politically swayed and get biased in when making specific decisions and policies. The incumbent government in setting up policies may seek to influence the economic cycle in order to match the next elections. Some governments tend to make poor decisions on economy. Particularly they rush to make short term decisions that are highly politicized(Steffen Hindelang, 2016). The government is capable of allowing economy deterioration so that it can get an opportunity to mend it again for its own advantage. Potential negative consequences of removing tariffs on European imports to Canada Canadian producers will ultimately be disadvantaged and discouraged due to increased competition from increased imports. Goods and services will be provided in Canada by the EU at lower prices which domestic suppliers might not meet due to their high cost of production. The rate of employment might go down because producers might decide to reduce the number of employees in their companies. As the competition rises consumers will have a variety of products and service to choose from. Therefore the sales of a specific company will go down hence decreased revenues. The low demand will lead to decreased prices which will automatically affect the profit margin of a product. To cut off the costs of production the employers opts for lesser number of workers and low production. Although consumers in Canada might enjoy subsidized prices for the products, they might as while experience low quality products as services. As the producers try to lower cost of production it might affect the quality of end products. Therefore there will be less customer satisfaction. Every country has a cultural way of production and consumption. On the other hand products that are at the disposal of citizens tend to influence their way of living. Availability of EUs products in the Canadian market also tends to influence Canadians culture. For example introduction of new musical instrument in Canada can make Canadians to adopt the kind of music they are used for. Impact of foreign ownership of Canadian businesses to Canada Positive Economic research has proven that foreign business activity enhances competition, new technology, consumer choice, innovation and investments(Marise Cremona, 2016). Although policies with restrictions to foreign business activities are designed to defend specific internal interests at last they injure better part of economic participants and obstruct the growth of a strong and implementable economy. As per the provided proves Canada should target to develop a structure that encourages foreign business activity. This will help improve competitiveness of Canadian products and services compared to other industrialized nations(Casteleiro, 2016). Recognizing economical advantages of external business activity should have an important role completion policy and later investments in Canada. Canadas competitiveness will be enhanced by foreign investments. This will happen through revitalization of home industries and increment of services and goods flow to among Canada and its trade partners(Susy Frankel, Cambridge University Press). Canadian companies, workers and consumers will be attached to new global economy that knowledge-based. Apart from the provision of jobs by foreign investments, Canadians will be introduced to new international technology, new market access and new skills of management. Foreign investment might be of a strategic advantage to Canadian resource-rich territories. Natural resources harbored at Nunavut offer opportunities for investments in various sectors. These sectors range from ecotourism to mining to commercial fishing. Nunavut is also a excellent spot for pivotal business destination and exploration of science. This is facilitated by Northwest Passage Navigability. EU being the second largest investor in Canada after the United States, it might increase creation of jobs and enhance economic growth by putting investments in premeditated parts of the territory. CETA will make sure that Canadian exporters are allowed to of the firms in European Union relating to European Union government procurement supply any contracts. Opportunities will be secured and expanded to allow Canadian firms to offer services and supply goods to the 3 major EU-level institutions. Namely, the Parliament, the EU Commission and the Council(Marise Cremona, 2016). Canadian workers will also get the advantage of a better access to EUs procurement market. Negative It will not be easy for Canadian to invest in EU. This is because investing in foreign countries is more expensive that exportation of goods. Prepare enough money to set up operations might be very imperative. Direct investments and foreign exchange rules can impact Canada in a negative way. Investments that are legal in Canada might be illegal in the EU. Therefore it might be impossible for a Canadian to pursue an open opportunity(Andrea K. Bjorklund, 2016). Given that EU has a better economy than Canada; EU direct investment might lead to modern day economic colonialism which may leave Canada exposed to exploitation by foreign companies. Canada might be hindered to invest domestically. All the resources might be focused to investing in EU other than domestically. Political changes in Europe can affect the Canadian economy(Savvas Katsikides, 2015). Sometimes foreign direct investments are highly risky because other countries political issues can change instantly. In this case several of the risk factors to experience might be tremendously high. Historically foreign direct investments sometimes do affect exchange rates to the detriment of one country and advantage the other. In most cases the most developed country will always gain an advantage because it has a stronger economy. From Canadas point of view direct investment in the EU might be capital intensive. This might be economic non-viable which is highly risky(Congress, 2012). Also the government might gain control over investors assets and property due to political changes. This is called political expropriation. References Andrea K. Bjorklund, F. P. (2016). Yearbook on International Investment Law and Policy 2014-2015. Oxford: Oxford University Press. Casteleiro, A. D. Hotel Industry For some large states like Jakarta, which has many concern activities, hotel becomes one of the most productive income-producing belongingss ( Internal information Colliers International Indonesia, 2012 ) . There are four benefits from hotel industry for a state ( Medlik A ; Ingram, 2000, p.4 ) , which are, In some countries, hotel as an attractive force of visitant who bring passing power and who tend to pass more money than they do when they are at place. This visitant disbursement power frequently gives large part to the economic system gross of a state. In Jakarta, hotel, trade and eating house sector is one of top three sectors which give a biggest part in GDP for largely old ages. From period 2009-2011, hotel, trade and eating house sector has contributed 20 % for DKI Jakarta s GDP ( Gross Domestic Product ) . ( BPS, 2009 2011 ) In countries which having foreign visitants, hotels play large functions as alien currency earners which can give large part to their state s balance of payments. For states which have little possibilities of export may take hotels as their alien currency earners. Hotels can supply many occupation chances that this function is of import for countries which have little figure of beginnings of employment, where they contribute to regional development. Hotel can move as a medium to promo the merchandises of other industries. Largely hotel are supplied with nutrient, drink and other consumables which purchased from local husbandmans, fishermen and other providers. Using local merchandises in their services makes this hotel non merely can lend straight to their economic system gross to state as a alien currency earners but besides indirectly as an mercantile establishment to advance other local industries. Hotels may go societal activity Centres for local people and frequently their eating houses and other installations can pull local usage. The positive macroeconomic growing encourages the positive growing of hotel supply in Jakarta, as a respond from hotel groups for the positive growing of room demand. Some hotel groups expand their hotel concatenation by increasing their figure of hotel, such as Tauzia ( local concatenation ) which its hotel direction will develop 23 hotels until 2012, consist of 15 units Harris Hotel and 8 units of Pop Harris. Next, there is the Accor group ( international concatenation based on France and the largest operator of hotels in Asia Pacific ) program to spread out their web across Indonesia from 40 hotels in 2011 to 100 hotels by 2015. PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk ( SSIA ) , who own and manages the 5-star Gran Melia Hotel Jakarta and Melia Hotel Bali, plans to spread out its gross in the cordial reception market by developing a budget hotel web in 2012. The increasing figure of hotel for a budget hotel to a five stars hotel for period 2000 2011 are shown on the Figure 1.2, ( from the period 2012 2015 are projection figure ) , Beginning: Adopted from informations internal Colliers International Indonesia, 2012 Figure1. : The hotel supply in Jakarta by figure of hotel from period 2000-2015 Beginning: Adopted from informations internal Colliers International Indonesia, 2012 Figure1. : The hotel supply in Jakarta by figure of room from period 2000-2015 Based on the Figure 1.2, the supply of hotel since 2000-2011 are dominated by 5-star hotel and 4-star hotel, whereas until 2011 there were already 37 five-star hotel and 35 four-star hotel in Jakarta. These hotel groups which play in Jakarta hotel market consist of international and local trade names. Some of international trade names in Indonesia which the author would wish to advert are Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Four Seasons, Kempinksi, InterContinental, Hilton International, Ritz-Carlton and Mandarin Oriental. While the local trade names besides sharply work to construct their ain concatenation, from Santika, Mulia and Sultan to the Sahid Group and many others. The Emerging of Budget Hotel in Jakarta The construct of Budget Hotel in Jakarta began to emerge in 2006, initiated by the Accor Group, France with the Hotel Formule1, which plans to construct four other subdivision of this hotel in Bali, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Jakarta. Then followed by Santika Group with their Amaris Hotel that until 2012 holding 22 Amaris hotel and planning to spread out the concatenation by adding another 13 Amaris Hotel. Basically the key participants in budget hotel market are hotel groups who already have established their star hotel ironss, and because they can see the possible market and demand of budget hotel, they add one line in their concatenation for budget hotel. Some of the hotel groups are shown in Table 1. : Hotel groups and their trade name on star and budget hotel. Table 1. : Hotel groups and their trade name on star and budget hotel Hotel Group Star Hotel Brand Budget Hotel Brand Aston International Aston Hotel ( 3 Star ) Fave Hotel Accor Group Grand Mercure ( 4 star ) Novotel ( 4 star ) Pullman Hotel ( 5 star ) Ibis Budget Hotel ( antecedently Formule 1 ) Grahawita Santika Santika Premiere ( 4 Star ) Santika Hotel ( 3 Star ) Amaris Hotel Tauzia Hotel Management Harris Hotel ( 4 Star ) Pop Hotel PT Intiland Development Grand Whiz ( 3 Star ) Whiz Hotel Beginning: Adopted from informations internal Colliers International, 2012 Budget hotels are known for its low menu hotel ( Barrows A ; Powers, 2009, pp.273 ) , where invitees can see remaining at good quality hotel, with a low monetary value. The invitees pay merely for what they use. This will ensue in non merely cost efficiency for the costumier but besides for the investor. Based on Colliers International Indonesia information 2012, in twelvemonth 2011 there are merely 6 budget hotels in Jakarta, which are, Formule 1, Menteng by Accor Amaris Hotel, Panglima Polim by Santika Formule 1, Cikini by Accor Amaris Mangga Dua Square by Santika Amaris Soekarno Hatta, Cengkareng by Santika Amaris Senen by Santika In the Figure 1.3 shows the entire figure of budget hotel in Jakarta since emerged in 2006 to 2012. Beginning: Adopted from informations internal Colliers International Indonesia, 2012 Figure1. : The figure of budget hotel in Jakarta from period 2006-2012 The Segment of Budget Hotel The chief section of budget hotel in Jakarta is concern traveler. The high demand of concern activities in Jakarta, which require low monetary value adjustment with limited service, has encouraged budget hotel as a chief penchant for company in taking their concern adjustment. In add-on, there is a displacement work system among corporation when they will make enlargement into a new country. In the epoch of the 1990s, to supervise or guarantee the possible for concern in country which freshly initiated, the company normally sends a direct top direction ( Hari et al. , June 2011, p.44 ) . Since 2000 s, with the bettering economic system and quality of human resources, the corporation began to depute the undertaking at in-between direction degree ( Hari et al. , June 2011, p.44 ) . In add-on, by deputing undertakings to the degree of direction, the costs will be cheaper than directing the top direction. Those alterations of form, so impact the travel concern in Indonesia, from the outgrowth of low cost bearer ( LCC ) to the mushrooming budget hotel ( limited service hotels ) which merely provide the basic demands of the invitees: the comfy suites for remainder. Basically the potency of concern traveller market in Jakarta is rather big, because of few grounds, which are: The betterment in all sectors and positive economic growing has large impact in the increasing of concern activity in Jakarta. In their concern activity, the concerns frequently do concern trip to out of town, even abroad. And as a cardinal authorities, trade, services and industry, Jakarta becomes one of the most finishs for concern travelers in Indonesia. Based on informations from Asia Pacific Business Traveller Research 2011 by Accor Group, the cost which spent for hotel adjustment for Indonesian concern traveler is $ 92/night ( 2011, p.11 ) , while the norm long stay is 2.08 twenty-four hours. ( BPS, 2011 ) As the entire concern traveler in Indonesia in 2011 is about 90 % of the entire domestic tourer in Indonesia ( Siahaan, 2012 ) , hence concern travelers will be around 6.84 million in a twelvemonth. Therefore from this sum of concern travelers, there is about $ 1.3trillion of the entire cost of the trip that flows into the hotel industry in 2011. Global fiscal crisis in 2008 had besides triggered the corporation to cut their concern travel budget. There are some schemes that they have done during 3 old ages after the crisis ( 2009-2011 ) . Based on Ascend Corporate Travel Survey 2012 , from 340 respondent of concern travelers who based 43 % Europe, 30 % North America and 17 % Asia Pacific, there is an increasing figure of company which planning to alter their pick of hotels to salvage money in 2011. Whereas this status was encouraged budget hotel as a penchant adjustment for company for concern trip The Industry of Budget Hotel in Jakarta What becomes interesting from budget hotel market in Jakarta is how the supply and demand of budget hotel is significantly increasing in the short period of clip. Many hotel groups or air hose groups expand their concern to put in budget hotel, by seeing the possible demand of this hotel. For case, AirAsia Group, an air hose company based on Malaysia, who became a innovator of supplying a budget air hose ( Low Cost Carrier, LLC ) , has besides interested to make budget hotel with trade name Tune Hotel. After first established in Malaysia in 2007, Tune Hotel has spread in 6 states, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, England, Thailand, Filipina and Australia. In 2009, they launched two Tune Hotel in Bali which is in Kuta and Seminyak and in 2013, they are be aftering to spread out 13 Tune Hotels in Indonesia which will be in Jakarta, Bekasi, Surabaya, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Sola, Palembang, Tangerang and Bali ( Kompas, 5th September 2012, p.19 ) In the Figure1. : The growing in footings of figure of suites from period 2000-2012 below shows that budget hotel s growing compared with 3, 4 and 5 star hotels in footings of figure of suites is lifting important since emerged in 2006. It can be seen from the tenancy rate of budget hotel which is rather good better than 3 5 star hotels. The Figure1. : The tenancy rate from 5-star hotel to budget hotel shows that merely two old ages after budget hotel has emerged to the market, its tenancy rate is extremely better than 3 5 star hotels, even 5-star hotel has the lowest tenancy rate from 2000-2011.
